What is a trendy bedroom color that goes well with black furniture? Have a new home and the master bedroom and bathroom are white. It has vaulted ceilings and it's pretty big, but it's too much white. What colors should I paint it? My downstairs is two tone tan color; very neutral. I have black furniture in the bedroom. Can I design my bedroom with a sleek contemporary feel if I have traditional furniture ? I am looking to redo our master bedroom, I would like to use a monochromatic color scheme. Is the master bedroom too much for a 2 year old? I have a newly two year old daughter. I am thinking about switching rooms with her. I live in an apartment and saving up to buy a house. But thats not for another 3 years. Meanwhile I have to provide adequate space for my toddler. Well when I spoke of this to my family. They believe its not necessary and that I "spoil and over indulge" her. HUH?? Now I have to admit I enjoy buying cute INEXPENSIVE clothes for her. She starts dance school in the fall and won 2 photo contests ONLINE lol. Buts thats it. I am strong disciplinarian and believe in good manners for my child. She is active and her bookshelf is growing, she has a rocker, small table, all would fit comfortbaly in the master bedrom. My furniture will fit easily in the second room. I don't maintain a lot of things such as because too much can be cluttered. All of her toys and dolls have to fit the toy chest or I will get rid of it. I Try to be a good parent and in doing so I have to consider he needs. Is it too much?

Open Master Bedroom - no door on bathroom? My husband and I want to remodel our master bathroom (the bedroom is fine) but it's extremely tiny! Unless we start knocking down walls, there is literally, no place to increase space or install a bathtub which I really want. Anyway, I was thinking about hiring a bathroom designer to integrate the bathroom with our master bedroom. I'd like to use vanities and tubs that don't look like bathroom fixtures but instead like furniture or works of art. I think this would blend better. Does anyone have any links or pictures to this type of room? Thanks.
I am having some issues with decorating my master bedroom. Help!? I have a rather large space (17x17 ft) with a vaulted ceiling that angles up and creates a plant shelf above the door to the master bath. I would like some suggestions on what to do with this shelf area. It is about 12 ft long and 4 ft deep and is about 9 ft from the floor and is 5 ft tall. I would say that our style is "transitional" not too contemporary and not too traditional. Also I am having trouble with the color scheme. Our furniture is dark cherry, our bedding is khaki and creme striped and the carpet is beige. The walls are currently khaki and all of the neutrals are starting to get to me!! I would like to add some color but with such large walls I am afraid of being overwhelmed. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
Master bedroom decorating ideas? Light carpet, dark wood trim & dark wood furniture. Any ideas for walls, windows, bedding? Thanks!
how to decide on the color to paint a master bedroom and bath? i realize that this all boils down to personal choice but i'm stuck between two colors. First off, let me give you an idea of what i've got going on in my bedroom/bath. My bedroom furniture is all dark wood (mahogany I think), with brushed nickel hardware. All the trim is painted white. In my bathroom, the vanity and everything is white except for a wooden dresser that has an espresso finish with brushed nickel hardware. I have a few black picture frames in both rooms along with some light aqua accents. I'm trying to decide between a soft, grayish green or a warm darker tan. These are Sherwin Williams colors, one is called Mega Greige and the other is called Sea Salt. Thank you.

So ok, I am redecorating our master bedroom and I have purchased new furniture and everything, but I can't seem to make up my mind on a paint color for the walls that goes well with the decor! My furniture is a tabacco color (dark cherry with a black overlay) The bedding is silver with a very kindof blueish/teal color as the accents like sheets and a throw pillow, also my curtains our silver with another set that is the same blueish color. Small Master Bedroom --- too dark? Cranberry bedroom walls, and a black bedspread. Black furniture. Hardwood floors (medium color). If I add some ivory or sand color drapery on the window (1) - do you think it would work or be too dark? Going for a romantic/sexy room.
My master bedroom has a huge window on the wall opposite the entrance wall. The bed is on the wall to the rt. Now which wall would you consider to be the "focal point"? Can you have 2. I need help creating a "modern" victorian Master bedroom feel...? I just redid my entire master bedroom and something is not right... My husband and I bought a gorgeous burgandy comforter with matchng curtains, all of which have big gold flowers on them with olive/ sage green leaves. Our furniture is a deep walnut color and I just painted the walls to match the leaves. My husband LOVES it... me not so much... it needs something. It looks like a room in a little old lady's victorian home, pretty... just too grandmaish for me. I feel like something could jazz it up a bit and make it feel a little more modern, but not sure what. I prefer the less is more concept, I can't stand clutter or business. Throw in the fact that I am very practical and this room is small and has a king size bed, but we're not changing it or the comforter set. The hardware is gold and two pictures that we have up and for sentimental reason will not come down are both framed in antique gold... I know... it doesn't help matters. So far one wall is bare. Any ideas? P.S. the trim around the doors, floorboard, and closet itself is white. I like the black idea... would it clash?
how much should my biz charge 4 home staging? I rent the furniture/ accessories for open houses.? I buy the furniture, pay storage, movers, my fee. The inventory costs between 5-6 thousand (full living room set, master bedroom set, dining set, possibly patio). No other staging services in my central Florida metro area that rent furniture.
Is there anything wrong with putting furniture over a closed vent on the floor in your home? A new dresser in our master bedroom looks ridiculous unless centered against the wall and in that place it would be covering one of two floor vents. The said vent is closed and you can't feel any air coming out, but we weren't sure if it was okay or not.
Does anyone have ideas on what accent color would work best with teal walls?( black furniture and white trim)? I am trying to add more color to my usaully earth-tone home. It is the master bedroom and I want it to be calming with a hint of "Mexican" Latin feel.
Having furniture delivered tomorrow- how much do I tip? We live in Las Vegas- and bought a rocker/recliner from Walker Furniture-- they are charging us $49.00 for delivery. I will have the guys take the rocker up to my second story, and into my master bedroom. We live in a single family home- so there are no apartment access complications. My question is, do I tip these guys, and if so, how much? Thank you.

What color would you paint our master bedroom? I'm trying to work with a comforter set given to us by my Mother-in-Law. It's a pretty dark blue and grayish blue pattern, kind of a grand floral design. Very elegant. The bedskirt and sheets are a darkish gray blue and white. Our headboard and furniture is a medium cherry wood. I always wanted to paint our room a deep burgundy, but I think it'll look weird with the bedding. I think painting the walls white is too boring and blue just seems like it would be "blue-overkill". The hall that leads to our room is a muted "army" green. The doors and trim are white. Haven't picked window treatments yet. Suggestions??? I'm very open to ideas. Maybe even wall paper? Please give me ideas......the room is currently painted a light lime green and we can't handle much longer.......
Painting the bedroom? I want to paint my master bedroom and we have a tan color now, we also have cedar rustic furniture and I'm not sure what color would be best. Thanks in advance!

Here are some Basic facts about what I'm working with, This is in a Home that was Build in 1923, the rest of the home is a mix of shabby chic, country french, "Tuscan" some oriental / Nature based colors and theme - Eclectic but really works. furniture placement? I have a decent-sized master bedroom with an attached bath and large windows facing a wooded back yard. I can place my headboard on the short wall directly facing the windows, but I would have to walk around my bed from the door to enter the bathroom. Alternatively, I can place my headboard on the long wall. I would lose the view, but there would be better flow with the furniture. From a design standpoint, which option is more desirable?
Some feng shui advice for a new home...? My new house is white and tan throughout, with some green in the master bath & a little blue in the guest bath. Our couch & club chairs are brown. Other furniture is avocado, mauve & black. (The rug makes it work.) Curtains in the living room & master bedding are French blue, we have smoke sheers in the master. It all looks good, but I want to begin planning the walls & accents while ensuring we attract abundance, health, friends & happiness - not the opposite. By Chinese horoscopes, I am metal, my husband is fire and my kids are both earths. I read a lot about feng shui, but don't know how to apply it. I created a Ba-gua: front door/living room - South master bedroom - Southwest (head of the bed - Southwest/West wall, MA door faces Northeast) master bath - Western corner kitchen & laundry room - Northwest family room (with fireplace) and office - North guest room is Northeast guest bath is East children's bedroom is Southeast What are inherant obstacles? Fixes/Tips? Last night I went and did a little more digging. My Kua # is 4. My husband's is 6. Hubby's year sign is fire sheep and fixed element is fire. By year I am a metal pig and my fixed element is water. I do find not only is some information I read contradictory, but of course my husband and I are cancelling each other out. 3 1/2 weeks after we moved here I was fired unexpectedly from my job of 3 1/2 years, which is causing terrible financial problems. I am also concerned especially about our health. I am interested in the flying stars method, but don't know how to apply it, and is it for the whole house or for each room? Thanks very much for your help. ~E
What is a wall color to compliment oriental black furniture? I have always hated these questions, but here I am! This question is right up there with How do you like my avatar!" The windows face East and South. The walls are currently a deep emerald green with beige carpet. It looks like a tomb in there! The master bath was the same color, as was the utility area just off the bath. I just painted those rooms a very light beige. Not exciting, but a LOT lighter and brighter! I really love light light aqua, but I am afraid to put it with all that black furniture and beige carpet. The furniture is really beautiful. I sure don't want to make it look cheap. The master bedroom is just off the kitchen - which is lipstick red. Everytime I try to think of a color, I start thinking of aqua and then I just go brain dead, and we are going to go to the paint store tomorrow!

I need help with redecorating the bedroom? This is the master bedroom. Its very small. I am buying a double bed with 2 small side tables, and that will just fit the width of the room. This is it: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z45/fizzystuff/22914021101_01.jpg Then I am getting a small dresser of a similar style to this and that can fit near the door. I need to buy carpet and drapes. The windows are double sliding doors leading out to the balconey. Floor to ceiling, and taking up almost the entire wall. My question is, for a room so small, what are the best color schemes? Obviously the furniture is black. Carpet I was thinking ivory. Drapes, I was thinking light brown and then light brown bed linens? What kind of things should I keep in mind when decorating a small room? I dont want it to feel cramped. I want it to feel light and open. Thanks for any suggestions! We keep clothes and other items in another room. I try to keep clutter out of this room.

The only thing is that I dont know what type of colors to bring into the house since the walls are white. I dont want to paint the walls because im gonna have to paint in back in white before I move out and I dont want to go through that hassel. What type of color couch should I bring into the house, what type of color furniture should I bring in, what type of colors should I chose out for the bed room set, etc. I basically need a House Decorator! In the master bedroom all the walls are white. i have white furniture though, its whicker. and i am useing a phramed clover poster, and yellow and grass color of green. I was thinking maybe a color close to navy blue, but would that go with the green grass and bright yellow (think dandilions and clovers) color theme? if not what color would you suggest? oops meant PAINT! stupid typos!
Where can I go for free advice about a landlord - tenant dispute? My family moved into an apartment in Salt Lake City, Utah in June 2006 with a contract for a one-year lease. While living there, we constantly had problems with water leaks, mold and other damages that were not fixed in a timely manner, if at all. I have all of this documented as well as I can in a journal, though no pictures or copies of written communications with the landlord/manager. I also have health issues documented, as my daughter and I have severe allergies and asthma. So we spent a lot of time at the doctor’s in the time we resided in this apartment. We terminated our contract early to move to Idaho and paid all associated fees before vacating the apartment. We moved out on April 12, 2007. While removing our furniture, we found a huge amount of water damage to the carpet and wall in the master bedroom. The complex manager did a walk-through checkout with my husband on that date. She told them that the water damage was from a foundation leak and that we were not responsible for the damage. She did not write anything on the itemized move-out condition checklist and said verbally that we would receive all or most of our deposit in the mail in about a month. On May 21st, we still had not received our deposit. I contacted the manager and she said to fax her a written request to know where the deposit was and she would pass it on to the landlord. I did so by the end of the week. On June 4th, I received my first communication from the landlord with a carbon copy of the move-out condition report. It had new writing on it that was not there when we moved out. It said due to replacing a light fixture and the carpet, we owed them $1080. In the same letter, they threatened to take us to court if we did not pay in a timely manner (remember, this is our first communication from them). The next day, June 5th, I received a photocopy of the move-out condition report. It is obviously a copy of the above one, based on my signature and date. It has more new things written on it about things needing replacement. Than states that due to carpet cleaning, replacement costs, and general cleaning, we owe nothing, but are not getting our $300 deposit back. To a family of four, where the parents are full-time students and bring in less than $2000/month in income, this is a huge amount of money we’re talking about. But fighting this is very difficult, as we are no longer in the state and don’t have the funds to travel back and forth. What do we need to do? A cannot afford a legal advisor, and our school does not have a legal department for students.
How much would it cost to paint the interior for my house? My house is 1700 square feet, 2 story and has vaulted ceilings on the second story. I bought all the paint and supplies. I also plan to move all the furniture myself. I need the interior painted except the cupboards, my master bedroom and all the bathroooms. (I am doing those my self). So I need about 1300 square feet painted. How much can I expect to pay a crew to come out to my house and paint it on a weekend? I was thinking it would cost around $2000???
Correct number of walls to paint? I would like to paint my master bedroom, and was thinking of a olive green! My furniture is large and room is not that bright! My color scheme that I have going on is dark purple accented with an antique green/gold color! The room is dark as I have only an atrium door that provides day light. The walls are currently eggshell and I want to liven the room up with color! HELP!
Choosing paint for restful master suite? We are currently in the process of buying a new (our first) home. As we are in a rental now & have always been in apartments prior to this rental house, I really want to make this new home our own. In the master bedroom, I plan on using grasscloth as an accent wall on the wall behind the bed but I am stumped on paint color for the remaining walls.(I hate white walls...Ive been surrounded by them for way too long now) Our style is a comfortable modern & we want every room to reflect a calming peaceful spa-like atmosphere. I know that chocolate(furniture) tan, greens, & whites will be the accents but I am stuck on whether to use a pale green or a light bluish gray tint on the walls. the grasscloth http://www.seabrookwallpaper.com/products/default.aspx?t=2&styleID=13&subjectID=182&patternID=6647&search= I would choose a blue similar to this http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=c0647da6-eb29-44b0-8246-36af9c58961e sorry i ran out of room. the green would be similar to this http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=b634d90f-379d-46d7-80c4-426a29a7d8f0 And the bedding would be this, minus the duvet in which case will be all white with the sheets slightly exposed like in the photo & a green coverlet at the bottom http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=274916&CategoryID=17626&LinkType=EverGreen
Interior design advice - guest bedroom? I have a guest bedroom that has a black cast iron double bed frame, white double wardrobe (Ikea Hemnes), white bedside tables matching the wardrobe, cream walls and cream curtains. I have just moved house and therefore cannot afford to buy new furniture and I want to keep the cream walls so advice required on what else I can do to put some colour into the room... What colour bedding and accessories does anyone recommend? I don't want a bland room but don't want something too personal as it is the guest room so could have a whole mixture of ages staying i.e. parents, or mates! I can afford to buy brand new bedding, throws, cushions, bedside lamps and accessories. The master bedroom is crisp white bedding, cream walls, oak furniture which splashes of deep red so don't want the guest room to be the same. Ideas/links gratefully appreciated as I am stuck for ideas! Thank you!
What is a fair price to pay a day laborer to paint the interior of my house? My house is 1700 square feet, 2 stories, and has vaulted ceilings on the second floor. I will not need the bathrooms, cupboards or the master bedroom painted. So the square footage that needs to be painted is around 1,300 square feet, but that is just the floor space, the wall square footage is obviously more. I also need the doors and the trim painted. I will buy the supplies and paint, I just need someone to paint the interior of the house. I can prep the walls and move the furniture as needed. I prefer the laborer to apply two coats of paint, and primer is not needed. I have a few people willing to paint my house in one weekend. One is asking for $800 and one is asking for $1,000. What should I pay a day laborer to paint my house?
Best style curtains for sill-length in transitional (traditional but simpler) bedroom over radiator? Please help with this design dilemma. In our 1950's small ranch master bedroom, we have corner windows. The main window, that would make the most visual impact, is 63"w by 55" to sill, and it sits right over the old-style heater! The window is flanked by a smaller one, 30"w by 55" to sill. Beyond the concern of the heater which we can't block, there is hte issue of the framing- there are apparently no studs, and the frames of the windows are flush against each other. We live in the cool-winter Northeast, and want to insulate as well as decorate. We will need lined drapes. The furniture is golden pine colored, in simple style, but reminscent of traditional decor. The walls are a rich and deep yellow green (brighter than the olive which suits me) and the floor is strictly a beige (no pink undertones). There are only small touches of maroon or crimson for accent, and I would like maybe a floral that goes well in winter and summer, that uses red. What shape of curtains is best?
What about a gray bedroom? The master bath is a grayish dark purple. I wanted a more neutral and light color for the bedroom. I keep coming back to light gray but am worried that it will be kind of drab and that people will think it odd. I thought maybe some dark purple velvet drapes and some silver accent lamps might look nice. I'm thinking you need black furniture for this to work and ours is dark brown. Any ideas?
can i dye my orange and yellow shag carpet myself? I just purchased a 4 bedroom 28 x 80 mobile home which wiped out my savings but its mine bought and paid for. I am a new mother and recently divorced. I love my new home with the exception of the carpet that is actually in really good conditition, is an ugly orange and yellow shag. Besides the fact that I hate it, it clashes with all my furniture and decor and as luck would have it is in almost every single room. I was able to recarpet the living room and master bedroom and cannot afford to do anymore rooms for quite some time and will only be able to do one or two rooms at a time to boot. I have heard that it is possible dye the carpet myself which would be a perfect solution for my problem assuming it is in fact possible and practical. Can you help me?
