I need help with redecorating the bedroom?

This is the master bedroom. Its very small. I am buying a double bed with 2 small side tables, and that will just fit the width of the room. I need to buy carpet and drapes. The windows are double sliding doors leading out to the balconey. Floor to ceiling, and taking up almost the entire wall. My question is, for a room so small, what are the best color schemes? Obviously the furniture is black. Carpet I was thinking ivory. Drapes, I was thinking light brown and then light brown bed linens? What kind of things should I keep in mind when decorating a small room? I dont want it to feel cramped. I want it to feel light and open. Thanks for any suggestions! We keep clothes and other items in another room. I try to keep clutter out of this room.

3. when you're limited on space, keep the furnishings to a bare minimum. In my guest bedroom, which is quite small, I only have a full bed, one nightstand, and one dresser. The furniture is black, the carpet is ivory, and I don't have any drapes on the widows - just blinds. If you want to have drapes, then I recommend a basic window sheer b/c it will let in the most amount of light. I chose a dark color for this room just b/c I liked it & it's more intimate, but if you want something light, then definitely choose any pastels or light neutrals should do nicely. My master bedroom is blessed with a little more room, so I am able to have more furnishings like an extra dresser and a chair in the corner.
