Choosing paint for restful master suite?
We are currently in the process of buying a new (our first) home. As we are in a rental now & have always been in apartments prior to this rental house, I really want to make this new home our own. In the master bedroom, I plan on using grasscloth as an accent wall on the wall behind the bed but I am stumped on paint color for the remaining walls.(I hate white walls...Ive been surrounded by them for way too long now) Our style is a comfortable modern & we want every room to reflect a calming peaceful spa-like atmosphere. I know that chocolate(furniture) tan, greens, & whites will be the accents but I am stuck on whether to use a pale green or a light bluish gray tint on the walls. the grasscloth http://www.seabrookwallpaper.com/products/default.aspx?t=2&styleID=13&subjectID=182&patternID=6647&search= I would choose a blue similar to this http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=c0647da6-eb29-44b0-8246-36af9c58961e sorry i ran out of room. the green would be similar to this http://ratemyspace.hgtv.com/SNC/ViewItem.aspx?pguid=6db6be3f-1720-4ba3-a081-999042c09b6b&itemguid=b634d90f-379d-46d7-80c4-426a29a7d8f0 And the bedding would be this, minus the duvet in which case will be all white with the sheets slightly exposed like in the photo & a green coverlet at the bottom http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=274916&CategoryID=17626&LinkType=EverGreen

- I prefer pale green for a bedroom. It is relaxing and has that whole nature feel.
- I really think the blue-grey is pretty, and if you chose the green shade it would make the room too matchy. Plus, with the blue-grey walls you could change the bedding with time to change the moods. Greyish colors match many other colors. Green- not so much. Good luck!
- I think grasscloth with the blue would be beautiful, & the espresso furniture against it would really make the room pop. The bedding has so many variations of light & dark green already that if you dont pick the right shade of green, it could become very clashy. The grasscloth is so light & the pale green is as well so theres really no contrast. The point of the accent wall is a wow factor...& I think that with the blue, it would just be really zen like which it sounds like is the feeling you are going for. Good luck & congrats on the house.
- I think a nice light blue might make an interesting change from white, and contrast with furniture, etc.
- i think both the green and the blue are rather cold icy colors, dont know how restful they would be.......... have you considered doing the walls in a warm tan? a slightly golden tan color would give the room a Zen feeling(especially combined with that great grasscloth). and would look fantastic with the bedding youve chosen. and would look very nice with the dark chocolate and green accents. maybe something like these: Behr "peanut butter" or "willmington tan" or CIL "sable sands" or Ralph Lauren "Kaui"
- Aside from all decorating aspects, if someone has allergies, grass cloth may not be the answer. Some people can't handle it to begin with and it can hold dust later on to aggravate someones allergies. Just a thought to consider ...
- i like a sage green.............it is sort of a middle of the road green..........it is not bright when it is night and the room needs to be dim, calm, and serene.................but looks great with the sunlight on it in the daytime with the natural color tone of nature on the walls. It can go both ways and adds a richness and sophistication to any room. Sage green also looks good with dark or light wood tones... and fits well in contemporary or traditional design concepts.
- I would choose a dark blue-green, like "deep sea dive" by sherwin williams: http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_visualizer/index.jsp this would make the room more intimate & cozy while still remaining tranquil & inviting. It would also provide a beautiful contrast to your white duvet & other accents. A very natural palette.
