Kitten urinating on bed and furniture?

We got an 8 week old kitten two weeks ago (10 weeks old now) and it keeps on urinating on the carpets, bedding, furniture etc, etc. We have three sandboxes around the house, and the cat uses them most of the time, but every second day or so, it urinates in some random place. What do I do—how do I change this bad behavior?

  1. its bladder will not be fully developed until it is at least 6 months old until then you are going to have to expect some accidents you do good by having several litterboxes spread out for the cat to use, just make sure the boxes are all scooped daily and that the boxes are in places that are easy for the cat to get to another thing to consider is that once a cat goes somewhere they leave a smell, now cats can smell better than humans can so you really need to do a good job cleaning the accident, if the cat can smell the accident then they think it is ok to continue to go there just be patient, if you are allowing your cat the run of the whole house then you may want to consider confining their area to one room, when you are at work or otherwise unable to supervise, until their little bladder is fully developed good luck
  2. First make sure that it is bad behavior and not a urinary tract infection. At 10 weeks, the at should be seen by the vet for a well check. If the cat is clear of infection, you will need to be very proactive and watch her every move until she uses the litter at all times. Always use the same litter, preferably unscented, a covered cat box for privacy and clean it with the same cleaner each time. Perhaps one cat box is enough as three seems like any place is OK to the cat. Cats do not like change at all. The cat is young enough to train without much problems. But rule out health issues first.
  3. my experience with kittens is if you have only one litter box verses three of them and put it in one place and dont move it the kitten might use it more often and if that does not work you will have to stay on top of the kitten and take her to the litter box when you see her going give her alittle tap and tell her no and put her in her box unfourtunatly it is sometimes to much to do unless your at home all the time there like kids sometimes having to be watched all the time
  4. i know this may sound mean but when the kitten has and accident you hav to rub its nose in the accident it teachs the kitten ,just dip the kittens head in then out and put the kitten on the litter box the kitten will soon learn
  5. my cat did that for a while, i finally figured out that he did not like to go potty in a dirty litter box, could be it?
  6. My cat did this before. I found out she didn't like going to the bathroom in a dirty litter box. could that be it? your cat's bladder won't fully be ready until it turns at least 6-8 months old.
  7. Be patient. Training pets (especially babies) is frustrating. Use a spraybottle when it's going to the bathroom somewhere it shouldn't be, and put down some newspapers in its favorite hang-out place.
